Role & Scope
Lead Product Designer
Leveraging a React migration, I spearheaded the redesign of one of Alexa’s most frequently used screens. I led three research studies to guide design decisions. I partnered with Product and engineering to add eight new features to the roadmap and define the launch experience. I coached a junior designer through delivery. The redesign improved scalability, polish, and usability.

Problem
Alexa, you're doing too much
Alexa’s “Now Playing” screen had become cluttered as new features were added over time. With the new Alexa+ subscription and business priorities shifting into premium, large-screen devices, we needed a design that looked refined, felt immersive, and could flexibly scale with future features.
"I pretty much expect my Echo Shows to look like a clunky car UI."

Long-time Alexa Customer

Solution
Premium = Adaptive + Scalable
Leadership wanted to essentially “make it pop,” so I grounded our goals in customer problems and created a framework to ensure we could measure outcomes. Based on research, a premium experience needed to enhance a customer’s space, adapt to their distance and use case, and scale to seamlessly accommodate all content types and future features.
Impact
Validated, adopted, elevated
The new design earned leadership buy-in through live demos and validated results in customer testing. The scalable system now supports multiple new features without clutter, reinforcing Alexa’s position as both useful and beautiful.
